A Film Festival with Atmosphere!!

Festibérico'06 is already the fifth edition of the successful Spanish and Portuguese film festival that Lumen organises in cooperation with the Spanish and Portuguese embassies, Instituto Cervantes, the Portuguese film institute ICAM and other organisations.

From 11 to 22 of May we screen Spanish and Portuguese films, specially imported for the festival. In 16 screenings the festival provides a good overview of contemporary Spanish and Portuguese cinema, a cinema in which controversial subjects are not avoided. The opening film SOLDADOS DE SALAMINA shows the delicate subject of the Spanish civil war from a con-temporary viewpoint. EL LOBO is the real life story of an infiltrator into ETA. DUPLO EXÍLIO tells a story of a repatriated immigrant who is a stranger in his own country.

But the program also contains a crazy comedy like CRIMEN FERPECTO or a potential cult film as ASTRONAUTAS.

A very special screening will also be ESPELHO MÁGICO, the latest film of the renowned Portuguese director Manoel de Oliveira.

And because every filmmaker started with making shorts, the festival contains a few screenings of Spanish and Portuguese shorts. The films are Spanish or Portuguese spoken and subtitled in English or Dutch as is indicated in the film descriptions. Also this year we will have some guests coming over from Spain or Portugal. And of course after the screenings you can relax in the Lumen cafe in a Spanish and Portuguese atmosphere.
