Yakari started in 2007 from the meeting of two cousins, Ricardo (guitar/vocals) and Sebastião (drums). In 2011, new bassist João joins the band as they head to the studio and hit the road. As part of the 'Deaf Cure' label, they do some gigs in Portugal and record a few tracks. In 2013, they release' Um Tudo Nada Por Acaso their first EP, by Contentor Records (an independent label), with a new drummer, Hugo.
Their sound is somewhat of a 'pop-rock' dissolved in a strong funk, soul, jazz and reggae mix, influenced by lots of musical genres and artistic views from all over the world. Most of the songs have Portuguese lyrics, though they play some english-sung originals like 'Just For Tonight' or 'Cool Kids'. The lyrics talk about daily subjects, confronting different points of view and questioning the little things that make life so grand.

De band brengt voornamelijk liedjes met Portugese teksten, maar zal daarnaast ook nummers in het Engels ten gehore brengen.

A banda começou em 2007, pelas mãos de dois primos, o Ricardo (guitarra e voz) e o Sebastião (bateria). Em 2011, recrutam o João (baixo) e lançam-se em força para a estrada e para o estúdio. Incluidos na ementa da Deaf Cure, dão vários concertos e gravam algumas faixas. Em 2013, já pela Contentor Records e com um novo baterista, Hugo (Orphelia, Jack & Dante), lançam o EP Um Tudo Nada Por Acaso.
Tocam um 'pop-rock' muito afastado do seu conceito original, diluído em fortes apontamentos de funk, soul, jazz e reggae com influências de vários estilos de música e correntes artisticas de todo o mundo. Cantam (maioritariamente) em português, sobre o Major Alvega, assuntos quotidianos, confrontando pontos de vista e questionando as pequenas coisas que tornam a vida tão grande.

YAKARI traen a Festibérico una versión acústica de su sonido pop-rock con poderosas influencias de funk, soul, jazz y reggae.
La mayoría de las canciones tienen letra en portugués, aunque también tocan temas propios en inglés. Puede verles en Lumencafé el último día del festival.
