TRES BODAS DE MÁS is a daring and stylish comedy in the line of Paul Feig’s BRIDESMAIDS with traces of the sarcastic sense of humor of Jude Apatow. Directed by Javier Ruiz Caldera (SPANISH MOVIE) and starred by renowned actress Inma Cuesta, the film tells the story of a woman facing her midlife crisis which gets invited to three ex-boyfriends’ weddings. Unable to say no, our heroine will attend to all of them (in one month), accompanied by her new intern, in a last attempt to find love.
Brutal but sensitive at the same time, this ‘coming of age’ hilarious satire was successfully world premiered as closing film of 2013 Giornate Degli Autore Venice Days (an independent event on the fringes of the Venice Film Festival, modeled on the prestigious ‘Directors´ Fortnight´ of the Cannes). In Spain it was the opening film of X Seville European Film Festival after what the film was labelled as ‘a comedy of the new times’ (Carlos Losilla, SENSACINE).
With a national box office of around six million euro (more than 800.000 tickets sold) only eight weeks after being released in Spain last December, Ruiz Caldera’s film has been nominated to seven Goya Awards including Best Original Screenplay, Best Actress (Inma Cuesta) and Best New Actor (Berto Romero).
