Óscar is a security guard at semi-abandoned salt pan. He lives alone. His life consists of going to work every day, putting on his uniform, strapping on his gun, and sitting there, looking at what remains of the mounds of salt. Every day, when his shift is over, Óscar changes his clothes, takes the bus and goes home. He looks in the mail box and checks his answering machine but there are never any letters or messages or, at least, not the ones hes expecting. One day, his routine falls apart. His grandfather has been taken to the hospital and his sister, who Óscar hasn´t heard from in two years, has been called to come. Two days later, María turns up with her boyfriend. The relationship between Óscar and María seems tense. Something happened in the past that has left its mark. Óscar, María and the incredible beaches of Cabo de Gata in Almería are the three main characters of this emotive film. LA MITAD DE ÓSCAR has been shown in prestigious film festivals such as Toronto, Gijón and Miami, where the film got the Grand Jury Prize.
